Diesel Contamination

Client

:

Steel Fabrication Distributors
Project Description :

Our client owns a number of steel distribution depots nationwide. One site is located on an Industrial Estate near Cambridge and lies adjacent to a controlled watercourse.

Approximately two years ago, it was discovered that an underground diesel pipe, servicing a fuel supply pump, was leaking into the underlying strata and groundwater, leading to significant pollution of the adjacent watercourse.

Role of Robert Long Consultancy Limited

Diesel Contamination

Following a preliminary site investigation, Robert Long Consultancy Limited was commissioned to arrange and supervise remediation works. A ‘pump and treat’ scheme was designed, involving a series of boreholes installed between the contamination source and the watercourse, (the receptor). We worked closely with our contractors, Telluric Limited, to assess traces of TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) found during the preliminary site investigation. We have since provided evidence of satisfactory ground conditions to the Environment Agency.

Approximate Fee Value :

£3,500
