Cory Environmental

Robert Long Consultancy Limited (RLCL) has recently submitted two planning applications to Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC) on behalf of Cory Environmental (Central) Limited.  The first of these applications seeks permission to introduce municipal solid waste to the Vigo Utopia Landfill Site, near Walsall, and to increase the annual waste inputs from 300,000 to 400,000 cubic metres.  It is considered that these measures are necessary to enable Cory to complete the landfill by the currently permitted completion date of March 2008.  The site will be restored to public open space, which will include a mixture of woodland and grassland habitats. 

The second planning application is to enable Cory to construct and develop a Materials Recycling Facility and Civic Amenity site within the site reception area of Vigo Utopia Landfill Site.  The development of the recycling centre will support the on-going work being carried out by Walsall MBC to increase their recycling rate and will help Walsall MBC to meet their targets.  The centre will also provide a convenient recycling facility for the local community. 

An Environmental Impact Assessment was carried out for each of the planning applications and considered potential impacts arising from landscape and visual effects, traffic, noise, environmental nuisance and health effects.
