A Message from the Chairman...
2002 has
been a busy year with turnover up by 27%. We have recruited
some new members of staff and several ‘old’ ones have achieved
promotions, namely Richard McAree, Matthew Sellwood and Mark
Lancaster.
Our branch
office in Huddersfield, opened last year, is now well
established and Elizabeth Simmons, Project Director at
Huddersfield has been successful in business development,
winning new clients and some large projects.
Our work
continues to be driven by new regulation of the wastes
management industry and in the case of our local authority
clients, the need for Best Value. We have seen a steep
increase in advice on waste strategies and achieving recycling
targets. For our engineering clients we have introduced nuclear
density gauges (NDG) for our construction quality assurance
staff to provide a faster alternative to traditional clay
testing methods.
The Board has recently decided
the company should start looking overseas for suitable projects
and we are actively pursuing some exciting possibilities. I
hope that next year our Annual Review will include stories from
abroad.
