Risk
based remediation...
As part of their ongoing
commitment to health and safety and environmental compliance,
Raymond Brown Eco Bio Limited commissioned RLCL to investigate
the cause and develop a practical design for the remediation of
three shallow slips on the lower part of the southern slope at
Rookery Farm Landfill, adjacent to the M27 motorway.

The cause of the slips and the
mechanics of failure were thoroughly investigated through the
examination of historical data, trial pitting, piezometer
installation, materials testing and computer generated slope
stability modelling.
A detailed design and method
statement for the remediation of the slips was developed on the
basis of risk assessments to ensure that the slips could be
remediated in a manner which did not pose an unacceptable risk
to the public, the motorway, contractors or the surrounding
environment.
The slip remediation works
were successfully completed in October 2003 by Raymond Brown
Construction Limited.
