New Instruction
The owner of a 20,000 square foot industrial site is facing a £30,000
bill for clean-up following the discovery of a ruptured fuel line.
The owner was contacted by the Environment Agency after routine water
samples from a nearby drainage ditch showed contamination with
diesel. A pressure check on the sites fuel storage system led to
the discovery of a small leak in an underground diesel line. A
follow up site investigation involving boreholes and further sampling
showed an accumulation of fuel beneath part of the site. The
Environment Agency have threatened legal action, which could lead to a
significant punitive fines, unless the situation is remedied without
delay. RLCL has designed and implemented a cost-effective remediation programme that will
minimise disruption to site operations and satisfactorily resolve the
pollution problems.
