Our services range from initial site assessments and feasibility studies to the preparation of restoration and aftercare schemes.
A project will often start with an assessment of the quality and quantity of a mineral deposit, based upon desk studies and fieldwork. We can then advise on the options for the sale or purchase of the
land or mineral rights and assist with negotiations.
In common with waste management facilities, securing planning consent for new sites is a major
hurdle. We are able to make representations to the planning authority for
inclusion of a site in the relevant development plan and undertake planning applications. This includes the preparation of schemes of working and environmental statements for sand and gravel quarries, clay pits and other mineral extraction sites. This will typically include consideration of landscape, noise, ecology, traffic and highways, archaeology, hydrogeology and other issues.

There is a direct inter-relationship between the waste management and minerals extraction industries through the use of landfill for the restoration of exhausted workings. The importation of waste may not always be the most suitable approach to restoration, and we also provide advice on wetland and low-level restoration and conservation, amenity or agricultural after-uses.
The production of secondary aggregates from construction and demolition wastes makes an important contribution to the sustainable use of resources. We have considerable experience of all aspects of the development of facilities to undertake material sorting, crushing and screening.
