Commercial and legislative pressures for the recovery and re-use of packaging and discarded waste materials have led to a greater awareness of recycling and a demand for suitable facilities at which the sorting and recovery of recyclable wastes can be undertaken. We offer the necessary expertise to advise and assist in developing these facilities and responding to the changing waste market and legislative framework.

Landfill sites, transfer stations and civic amenity sites may be suitable locations for the sorting, recovery and storage of recyclable materials. The composting of biodegradable wastes has been equally encouraged and can be undertaken at landfill sites and purpose-built facilities.
As the number of landfill sites has continued to fall in recent years, waste transfer stations have become increasingly important in the management of wastes, particularly but not exclusively in more urban areas. As well as providing opportunities for the recovery of recyclable wastes, these facilities enable the transfer of wastes from collection vehicles to more economical bulk haulage vehicles, for the onward transit of the wastes to disposal sites.
Most of the services provided by Robert Long Consultancy in relation to landfill and minerals extraction sites are equally pertinent to the development of recycling and composting facilities, transfer stations and civic amenity sites.
